EXPLORER AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS PROGRESS REPORT 2/12/25

  • The engine for the boat has been purchased, the first startup of it went smoothly as well. CAD has begun on developing a starting mechanism that is easy to produce/repair to make sure the engine assembly fits within our philosophy of cost effectiveness and quality.
  • Two CIM style motors have been graciously donated to us by First Robotics Competition team the Due Westerners. These motors will be used as propulsion motors. In order for us to achieve the same result with off-the-shelf motors, it would cost us ~$300. These motors are able to be found for $20 and will ensure that we can provide longevity in replacement parts.
  • JLCPCB has graciously decided to sponsor Explorer One and has given us a $150 discount on our Printed Circuit Board needs. We will use this discount in order to custom design more rugged sensor components that would otherwise be fairly unreliable.
  • Palmetto Emergency Outfitters has continued to provide us with quality products, the boat has been fitted with 360 degrees of emergency red, blue, white and amber lighting as well as a backup alarm which will be used when motors are activated (only for the first 15 seconds as a move away from propeller warning).
  • Progress is being made to produce the frame for the boat, which will lift the solar panel up, and straighten it. It will also provide room for the engine to sit with comfort. A complete rework of the electrical manual is underway to provide complete compliance with United States Coast Guard and NFPA standards.
  • Framework for financial, business, marketing and literature are underway and being worked on.

NOTE FROM THE CEO:

This project has always been a passion of mine and lately it has taken a toll on my financial situation. The community support so far has been far better than I expected and there is truly no greater way to say thank you. We have begun to roll out Explorer Autonomous Systems official merchandise. While they are being distributed locally, they will eventually be able to out international shipping. Thank you for your patience so far with the project!
